Seminar on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO)

An informative seminar on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Child Rights was conducted today for the students by Dr. Madhu Khandelwal, a distinguished social worker.

During the session, Dr. Khandelwal sensitised the students about the importance of recognising and responding to inappropriate behaviour. She explained how children should remain alert to instances of sexual harassment or abuse, whether at home, in their neighbourhood, at school, or in public places. Emphasising that personal safety is everyone’s right, she encouraged students to trust their instincts, speak up without fear, and seek help from trusted adults whenever they feel unsafe.

She also shared important child helpline and emergency contact numbers, explaining how and when they should be used. The students were guided on the appropriate course of action to take if they or someone they know faces such situations, highlighting the importance of reporting incidents promptly and not remaining silent.

The seminar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which the students enthusiastically raised their queries and received thoughtful guidance from the guest speaker. The session proved to be highly informative and empowering, equipping the students with valuable knowledge about their rights, personal safety, and the measures they can take to protect themselves.
